I have a 2004 x30 MCX. When you turn on the ignition the multifunction tach flashes a readout that says "BAD" for about 2 seconds then it swithches back to the readout you have it set for ie: depth, water temp, time, hrs etc. The check engine light goes off after starting the motor like normal and does not come back on at all. Any ideas? This could be normal but I had not noticed this code flash before. I had an alarm sound last weekend but it quit and never came back on. Anyone have any info on this "BAD" code?

Seriously. Does anyone's readout flash "BAD" upon first turning on the ignition to start the boat? I can't believe I may be the only one who has ever seen this. Thanks again.

Mime will do it too when you first turn it on until its all booted up. My guess is normal, but I always have mine set to depth. The bad comes on when the depth is shallow 2ft. or so.

That makes perfect sense because I keep mine set to the depth readout and I have noticed it when on the trailer at the ramp and also on the trailer in the driveway. I guess I can say pheeeeeeeeewwwwwww....I was worried something was wrong. Thanks again for the assistance. You too Tex.

My 2004 230VRS and my buddy's 2004 X10 flash "Bad" routinely on startup. It's the depthfinder.

"Bad" is a pretty funny and indescript term... seems they could have thrown a "SHAL" or "StrtUp" rather than BAD! :)

If it indicates shallow water, maybe, NO NO, BANG, CRUNCH, OUCH, NO NO, DAMN, PROP, HURT, $$$$, as a warning! And probably in that order!
