i cannot locate a pump out and there is a waste outlet with cover on the gunnel aft.
do i have to insert a hose and suck it out or how should this function ?

Yes, it's possible to get good information. You just have to wait a bit; someone with your boat will be along shortly. In the meantime, you'll have to deal with the smart*sses.

I'm sure TmcNo1 will appreciate the "kids" comment. You've made his day!

I'm gonna be polite and say this as simple and serious as I can!
Go to Knowledge Center, Owners Manuals, as an example, maybe it will apply, but your profile shows a X-45, year model ?????, but you say your X-80, year model ????? and find 2008 Owners Manual, as an example, pages 19-3 and 19-4 and there is information in there on how the head is prepared for use, used and emptied, USCG Regulations and it even tells where in the boat the operation instructions are or were suppose to be when purchased. If you don't have or are not willing to look in owners manual or do not have the head operating instructions, then contact your dealer or MC to get the operating instructions and/or let someone walk you through it.

Yes, unfortunately most of the guys with the info will check in M-F 8-5. You will probably get an answer, but not too many X-80 owners post alot here. Good luck, and you may get a quick response from your dealer tomorrow morning.

firstly, i am in no way pi***d off. i would simply have appreciated a bit of useful input along with the jokes.

secondly, i know my 2009 X-80 in and out. afterall, i had to spend the whole of the first day after taking delivery in the boat to rectify things that MC did not do right at the factory.

my caccuflush head would not produce vaccum because the factory had installed the hoses up-side down. i.e.in was out and out was in. more on this was posted in another thread.

the schematics of the manual refer to an inline pumpout which is thru-hull. however it is not on my boat. it would not surprise me if MC forgot to install it in the first place.

so my question was if anyone knows of a way to check this or if it has to be sucked out dockside.

and when everybody gets so upset at my intial remark i really wonder who is lacking any sense of humour here......

I would think that if it was an 09 boat it should be covered under warranty and you could just take it back to the dealer and get all the issues fixed. That way you can get what you paid a lot for and you are not getting frustrated with MC becasue you can't fix it.

Sorry to hear about the problems with your boat.

I have a couple questions and maybe in the course of answering them, you will answer your own questions.

First, where is the holding tank located? You obviously have a line running directly to the tank from the head, are there any other lines coming off the tank? If so, can you follow the additional lines? The lines coming out the bottom on the tank will be for your dockside clean-out. Is there a Y-valve that allows the poo-water to go to either A)the tank or B) out the thru-hull into the water? The vacu-flush head on our center console allowed us to dump straight from the head to the water, so we would select this when going #1 and direct it to the tank if going #2. It helped conserve the precious space of a 6 gallon holding tank.

Well, your houseboats are land-locked... an X-80 is not. In my experience, pretty much any boat that is able to run in the ocean wil have a macerator and a thru hull.

Hey Sodar,

Thank you for the input.
Holding tank is located under the rear bench on the port side. I checked all the hoses and cannot locate a seacock or pump. The boat was ordered with pump out. The schematics on the Dometic/Sealand website show a thru hull pump out fitting. the tank itself has only the vaccum generator.

Maybe MC change the spec and only istalled the waste water suckout tube on the boat.

Anyway, I had the gray water sucked out today and the head will be used as storage room from now on.

So in other words, you ONLY have the option to go to the tank and the clean it out at the end of the day?

If you would like the option to go from your head directly to the water, it is NOT a difficult install. It will only require a Y- valve (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=12243)with selector and a thru-hull. You may be required to do the install yourself, as the dealer and marina might worry about the liability if you accidently drop the kids off at the pool and then push them straight into the lake.

yup fountains are nice boats and very efficient. one of the best hulls i believe. the dash could use some update though. and they are left hand throttle.....

You can order them right hand throttle. Their poker run series are pretty nice, but I have never been a fan of their bows... or fountain's owner. Does a new fountain come with a gold necklace? Just asking!?!? 8p

No doubt. I love the look of the new 700's coupled with the NXT drives, but for reliablity I would definitely stick with the 525's. I have seen 525's with 500+ hours on them that have not had anything done to them but an oil change and tune up... I do not think their are too many other motors out there turning 525hp that can do that.

Why didn't you do the ITS on your boat? Are you planning on upgrading your motors later on and that is why you went with external steering?

i actually wanted to go ITS on the Sunny but Joe (Sunsation CFO) advised against it and recommended i stay with standard XR's. he even said no need to go for shorties as i would not gain anything from the extra cost but looks.

i have no plans to upgrade in the future. when i upgrade, i will go for the upcoming sunsation 36-36 with staggered 525's. till then i will enjoy the 32 as much as i can.

have you checked out the sunsation F-4 ? i believe it to be right up there with the Top Gun's and outerlimits....

Now there's an ADULT answer for ya!:D

good eye...you sure know boats !

i believe sunsation are really on top of their game at the moment. especially with their ssr series. factory support is the best i've seen.....

the boat was actually only just shipped today and will be with me in about 5-6 weeks.....

it should run somewhere between 92-95 mph.

Give me a Prostar 190, and i'll race you across the river and back, Title for title!

Yup. He is legit. Seems when ever anyone gets on here that has more than one boat, people question it... I think it is a form of their jealousy. Its no wonder why we have no X-80 owners on here. Everytime a question is asked about the X-80's, the owner is given the riot act.

I have not seen it in person... just read about it in Powerboat Mag. Seemed to get some good reviews and it looks about as sanitary as a Custom West Coast Builder's boat... which is definitely a step in the right direction.

i saw a boat called "Cigarette's Top Gun" opened up on Lewis Smith Lake... me and everyone in the boat sat/stood there amazed... he was GONE... we later (weeks) saw the boat at Dunskin Point Marina and asked the guys there what the story was and they said it was a legit racing boat and the owner just had it there for a place to "keep her legs stretched" never saw it run again but it THUNDERED past us the day we saw it on the water... glad it was a big lake... wish i remembered specs but its been a good while... really impressive vessel

here is the sunsation F4....actually saw one today on my way home on I65...followed by an outerlimits from Lake Cumberland Marine...don't know if the sunsation was from Lake Cumberland Marine...but from just cruising along side and checking out the quality not to mention not to often you see these kind of boats trailering down the highway...the quality and craftsmanship of the sunsations seemed a lot higher than the outerlimits....

all the details of the boat was just realy clean and neat.....about like one of those old hot rods when you look at it and can't figure out what is so special about it until you look at the little things that set it off from everything else
