Hey all you teak lovers, do ya think it's possible to oil your swim deck too much?? I gotta say...I love to oil that thing and keep it dark, rich and healthy looking! But, I'm wondering if I can actually soften the wood by doing this thus making it more fragile to wake and ski fins?

Haorld, you can't answer the question in the OP! You haven't had a ski on that platform in 18 years8p

I tried and you just pushed me overboard before I could let the ski hit the teak.:D

Are feet and butts even allowed to touch it?

In #1's boat it's deep water or dock start  or have her facing the front of the boat then when you get to speed toss her out with handle in hand and hope she lands ski down :D

Skis aren't too bad you can hang the fin off the side, it's the wakeboards that kill the steps.
I've been a cabinet contractor for 20 years so I know a little about wood and finish so at the end of season mine looks great but now it looks like someone rode across it with ice skates :D

It bothers me to look at it, but if you use it (as a ski platform) you have to expect it to wear down. So I stopped before the addiction set in... besides, they all look good in the water...

I was told if I oiled my wood once a night, I'd go blind, and it did, till I found out it was the sun reflecting off the finish. I have run into the column in the basement more than once, before I caught on!38468
