How low in fuel was it when he filled it up? Shouldn't go below 1/4 tank or risk fuel pump failure. That would be my first guess. Do a search here and there is a lot written about the topic. Also found in owners manual.

Second would be the fuel filter is clogged.

Third would be to check the lanyard, pull it and make sure button is reset and hook it back up. If lanyard is bumped it will not start sometimes.

checked lanyard and fuel tank was just below half full , would there be some kind of airlock in the fuel system ?? we cranked it quite a few times but never got a smell of gas fumes at all ??

The question is has he run it low before as sometimes it will take several fill ups before pump eventually fails. I still think the pump is the problem but only way to know for sure is to check the fuel pressure in the line several times. There is a schraeder vavle on top of the EFI unit to screw in a fuel pressure gauge to check.

glad to hear it was just a bad connection and not in need of a new pump. What happened did it come loose? Was it corroded over?
