View Full Version : A day in the ER

Grandson(19 year old) doing 360 takes a fall board, comes off I see him hold his head and then I see the blood and lots of it. Since I am a fire capt. I call my guys to meet me at my house with med unit while I firewall it. Pupils looked o.k. but he had a pretty deep laceration PUHA to ER. After making a stitches or staples decision we leave the ER. About an hour later my 17 yr old granddaughter Jessie(his sister) Is leaving from here with a friend to return home. I get a call from my daughter saying she just got a call from Jessies friend saying they had just been in an accident and Jessie needed an ambulance! I called our closest station and asked them to roll a med unit. To say I responded code is an under statement. She had been t-boned. We poped the door and transported back to the same ER. She was having pain( in a shoulder that she had surgery on in the past) hip pain, head etc. No lacerations. X-ray showed nothing broken but I am sure with soft tissue damage she is going to feel it big time tomorrow.( While in the ER another young man came in with a face laceration from wake board fall!) Two days earlier my paramedics had been out to give my wife an I.V.(she is in bed trying to recover from last week chemo treatment.) The ER director who happened to be on is a good family friend and a great Dr.so I was comfortable with all the prognosis etc.
They say God never gives us more than we can handle but he sure tested me today.
But you know what. I still have these loved ones he could have taken them. God is good!

Wow. Bruce. You are really being tested. Is everyone okay right now.? I assume they must be out of the rough stuff if you are posting. We'll be thinking of you.

What a tough time. Take care Bruce. I'll be remembering you. Sounds like this needs to go to the prayer request thread. Some prayer needs and things to be thankful about.
