Guys,
I'm packing the boat this AM to try to leave in an hour or so for a week's vacation with the MC. While loading the boat, I accidentally broke the kill switch lanyard by bumping something against it. Boat is '98 Maristar. Is a replacement lanyard MC specific, or can I just pick one up at Wal-Mart? I broke the plastic piece that clips onto the actual switch. I can stop at either place on the way out of town, but Wal-mart would be significantly less out of the way by probably an hour with two little kids in the car.

Thank you!!!!

Doug

Do you have all of the pieces?

If so, maybe you could go to Walmart and try to match up the lanyard.

As far as I know you just need it to hold the switch out.

How far are you from Midwest MC?

What about Geldert's up off of I-94?

Good luck and I hope the rest of your vacation goes smoother.

Doug, I have a 91 maristar and i actually had to replace mine on the water. I just used a regular lanyard. I dont recall where I got it, but mine has been working great for the past 2 years. have a great trip...:)

I believe the dealer will have you buying the whole switch. I know there are a few aftermarket companies that make a lanyard that comes with a string of keys....walmart may or may not have it....might try a bait shop or something like that.

No, I lost one of the brackets somewhere in the mess. I guess I'll try Wal-Mart first, then go to Midwest MC if that doesn't work out. I know there's a Gander Mountain on the way, maybe they'd have something like this. ARGH...this is so frustrating.

I broke the lanyard on my waverunner once when I was several miles up river from my launch site. I had to get creative and used my bathing suit tie to wrap around the kill switch to keep it up. If yours is the type that simply holds the switch up, you can probably do something similar as a temporary fix. Good luck!

PS- This is a TEMPORARY FIX...l..go buy the correct kill switch!

Wait til you get there and steal one of a jet ski. It will greatly improve your trip!

Pretty generic part. Some places sell a multi-lanyard and it has all of the various kinds on a cord. Wally World should have it. Where will you be?

If all else fails, bypass the kiss switch until you can find one.

Thanks guys...Wally World had one of the multi-option ones...only $9.49 and my stress level is way down now. Now all I need is that first gin & tonic this afternoon on arrival in beautiful Hayward, Wisconsin.

Btw...I really liked Tex's idea of stealing one off a jet ski.

Have a great weekend guys, I'm hitting the road finally.

I'm thinking if you stole the lanyards from all of the jet skis, you would have a really nice, quiet trip!!!

"you would have a really nice, quiet trip"

Punctuated by periods of loud whining.

Killswitch? Whats that?

Previous owner bypassed mine. If need be, you could always just bypass it temporarily. Maybe a short wire with alligator clips on each end.
