I have a 1994 Mari Star 225 Direct Drive and I'm trying to lubricate the stearing system. Do you have to remove the floor board that contains the battery trey or just the floorboard section ahead of it?

Not familar with the MariStar, but remove whatever it takes to get to the cable zerk on aluminum tube, the pivot zerk and the rudder port zerk fitting.

Lubrication of the "steering" cable is primarily preventative. It's not typically very useful as a repair procedure. IOW, if your steering is getting difficult, lubrication is unlikely to help and may make it worse. Time to replace the cable.
