so boat ran great all weekend, but it sat moored dockside for 4 days in some pretty filthy water. lots of weeds floating around, etc. to be on the safe side, is there something easy i can do to make sure i don't have anything preventing the cooling system from doing it's job properly? isn't there a strainer or something near the raw water pickup? where is that located? 03 X-2 (205V)

turning right around in a couple weeks and headed out again on another road trip, would like to just be sure i'm all good in advance. i'm hoping to take her back out in the next week or two around home, but not sure time will allow it before we pack up and head out again.

You can pull the raw-water-pump 1.25 inch output hose where it clamps to the lower end of the transmission oil cooler...sweep your finger around in there in case there are any potential blockages. If not, you should be good to go.

so there is no strainer per se?

Not per se, just a perforated plate on the intake end of the transmission cooler. You can feel it with your fingers after you remove the hose (see attachment).

Some people here have indeed put an actual raw water strainer inline between the intake hull fitting and the raw water pump.

The strainer is located right off the impellor. It will be the top tube going to a long metal cylinder in the rear of the engine.

Here I am loosening the tube to check for debris

Tube off now stick finger up there and get anything out.

re-attach tube
