About A week ago I was text messgaing back and forth with a known contact. Then they sent me a message that contained random symbols, letters, and numbers. Once I opened it my phone instantly shut down. I was like wow thats weird and I thought my battery was just low. However I was able to turn my phone back on and I still had plenty of battery. Then I went ahead and deleted the text. I questioned my friend, and they had no idea that they had sent anything. I had then check there sent box and no such message was found. I figured everything was ok, yet tonight the same friend questioned me about a text that I did not send I looked at my sent box and the message they said they recieved from me was not there. Starting to get worried because some of the people in my phone contacts might not appreciate the random messages, and who would believe that you didn't really send the message.....

Anyone experianced anyhting like this before, what steps should i look to take?

I would contact your service provider and show them the text message.
What network are you on?
Were all partys involved in the same network?
Was the text message the same on all phones?

Just wondering I dont need this to happen to me im in the same situation as you, don't need random text flying around my contact list.

Never had anything like that happen to me before

Now I know why we have a few on here that post in text message form and use Team Talk instead their cell phone to communicate with their family. Their phone is infected with CTD's (Cell Phone Transmitted Diseases)!

Cellphone viruses spread by two main ways: bluetooth or MMS attachments. In the latter case, the attachment has to be opened for the phone to be infected. In the former case, an infected bluetooth phone can infect any phone within range that is set to "discoverable". You don't mention what phone you have, but smart phones can also get infected from internet downloads or email attachments, of course. And if the phone has WiFi, that's another infection route.

There are a lot of cellphone virus tools out there, but naturally what will work depends on what phone you have, what operating system, features etc.

Best step is to call your service provider and get the appropriate information from them for your particular phone. There is no "one-size-fits-all" cellphone virus solution.
