Love that Ted Poe. He was a judge in Houston where I used to live. He was famous for his punishment rulings, always tried to match the punishment to the crime.

In 22 years as a Harris County district judge, Lloyd "Ted" Poe garnered gallons of ink and miles of videotape from a fawning local media with his zany so-called shame sentences for defendants in his court. They all had a common theme: In addition to jail time and fines, the convict must own up in public to his or her misdeeds. That could be by marching outside the scene of a robbery wearing placards with hand-scrawled apologies or shoveling horse manure in an HPD stable to atone for stealing the Lone Ranger's guns.

How much mercury is in compact fluorescent bulbs?

The average mercury content in a CFL is about 3 milligrams roughly the amount it would take to cover the tip of a ball-point pen. By comparison, older thermometers contain 500 milligrams of mercury the equivalent of more than 100 CFLs. A common wristwatch battery contains five times more mercury than a CFL.

I love the look on the guys face behind him when he says... Have everyone leave the room.... His eyes get wide and he looks up at the speakers chair....
