My 83 PS19 w/powerslot swings a 14X18 and pulls 5k and 52 on the GPS. Does that sound about right for that setup?

title says the boat weights 2200lbs

Are you talking 52 mph?

Sounds very fast for that setup to me. However, GPS units are rarely off by that much.

I was thinking the same thing. My 86 was a powerslot and I know it didn't go 52mph.

I don't know how you could possible go that fast with that setup. Mine hit's 43/44.

I don't think a stock engine will go 5200 rpm.
But if it did, 52 mph sounds about right.

I have had mine at 4600 rpm, 46 mph.
But that was with a tail wind, going downhill.;)

The boat is new to me. The PO put ss allen head bolts on the valve covers and pulleys, not that is any indication of any internal mods but whoever put it together cared enough to add those touches so they obviously cared about what they were doing. The oil pressure is a couple of notches above 40 when hot and compression is good so it appears to be a fresh motor. The dreamometers read 44 when the gps read 52mph. It is a three blade prop which might explain the 18? It's not pulling 52 hundred, it tops out at 5000 and it is howling. I don't spend much time there.

Maybe you are on a river, going downstream with a 8 mph current?

It's possible if the thing has reworked or upgraded heads. A 1984 ski magazine review on the MC stated top speed 50 mph at 5000 rpm. Mine won't do it, and specs say 4400 rpm tops but consider that Rob Shirley probably had the standard engine massaged but stock looking for the test. Just a little work will put you there.

I think it is possible with that size prop. A 14x18 will give a some more top end than the 13x13 that I'm running at 43-44. My bud has that same 14x18 prop on his Maristar 225VRS and he's got me by at least 5 mph. Your boat is significantly lighter. How it it out of the hole? I know there are some prop pros around here. They will probably know more than I.

it wouldn't take much to get it to 5000 rpm, but its not stock. head/cam upgrade likely.

I had a friend in high school whos parents had an '83 powerslot. It would out run all of the other inboards on our lake back then and it was by a noticable amount. Our Supreme back then would run 48 and we couldn't touch that MC.

So, I guess I'm saying that I'd believe it...

If you have a powerslot, the tach is pretty close (almost dead nuts) to mph (except in hard turns). I GPS'd mine using the one in my airplane and it was within a mph. A stock powerslot is a 14/18 prop. I think 4600 is "redline" on a stock 351motor. Mine will push 4800, but I rarely go there. I would be careful if you dont know the upgrades, but 5000 is about 50-52mph
