View Full Version : Vibration at high speed????

I have a 2006 X-15 with the MCX and a stock prop it has about 200hr. I had my boat running at top speed last night with 7 people in the boat when out of nowhere my boat got a very strong vibration in what felt like the prop. I slowed down to 27mph and the vibration got much softer. Under power the vibration gets worse and at faster speed. I loaded up the boat and checked the prop, shaft and rudder. Everything is tight and looks to be in great shape. No dings in the prop. Any ideas?

Prop, shaft, or strut...sounds like you hit something. Or, it could be shaft alignment.
I wouldn't trust my eye to judge any of those things. I'd have the dealer look at the shaft, strut and alignment. If they're OK, I'd send the prop into OJ and have it checked/rebuilt.
Did you rev it in neutral? Was the vibration still there?

Good News. I went ahead and changed out the prop and all is good. Thanks for all the help.

...or, if you have a spare prop on hand, you could start by switching out the prop and save yourself a trip to the dealer...:o
