We're thinking of trying someplace different for a weekend - we seem to be getting into a rut.

Anybody been on Koocanusa (Near Eureka, MT)?

No, but I've been to Whitefish (I think that was the name) just west of Yellowstone. Beautiful lake and a great park with wonderful boat ramps.

Neil, I used to live in that neck of the woods, Koocanusa has nice clean water and some very nice sandy beaches. I used to skip it and go to Dickie Lake south of Eureka instead. It is a dam and used to have a lot of large trees in it. The valley was not logged prior to flooding so wood has been a problem. Over the past 15 years a lot of work has been done to clean up the shorelines, development has taken place on the Canadian side and house boating is now available. I hear that it is quite nice now. If you want to go explore the area Kicomun creek is a very nice provincial camp ground. You will have to pull your boat at night. There are private campgrounds with marinas as well. I would suggest it is not a good place to go until July depending on the spring run off conditions. It would be about 3.5 hours from Calgary. Here are a few links
