Anyone have any ways to keep boat shoes from smelling after a day of wearing them? I have 2 pairs that I rotate to dry them out, but even after a few hours of wearing them outside they start to smell.

Sperry Topsiders are the worst for letting your feet breath  I havn't worn those since I was a kid and they reeked back then :(

Flip Flops work for me

But seriously Vans deck shoes are an original boat shoe in my eyes.

Buy a pair of Crocs - Islander model. Best boat shoe available. Cool, no smell. I sell boats at a marina and live on a lake. Great shoe.

I thought they only wear Crocs in California, if you know what I mean.

I'm a big fan of Keen shoes and sandals. Legend has it that they were designed by a dedicated boat guy who got tired of Topsiders smelling, but he kept stubbing his toes on deck rigging while using conventional sandals. Mine work great. Waterproof so you can wade in them (even the leather ones), very comfortable, very durable in my experience.

Reef flip flops!

I just bought a pair!!!! I love them. And to make them even better, each one doubles as a flask!!!!! Some have a bottle opener on the bottom instead of the flip flop being a flask.

Have you tried it out yet? Will each shoe hold enough for a good drink??

I can just see the look on a dates face, She will have a coke and just a glass of ice for me. then woop the old flip flops and mix her a cocktail. :D

No, I haven't tried them out yet. I didn't even know until I got home with them. I tried them on at the store, liked them, brought them home and noticed the tags saying "quench your thirst". Then I figured it out. I thought they were air bags, little did I know......

They make for a great conversation piece though!

Get a funny tan in those?? :DI confess, I've never been very concerned about the nature of the tan on my feet. On the positive side, it's likely to cut my risk of melanoma on the top of the feet by about 50%.

Those that are concerned about tanning even-ness on the tops of their feet could always wear black socks with them...

Cut the toes out with a gig saw so they will get some air!

Well I wear flip flops at the lake and beach, but I wear boat shoes all the time during the summer for walking around and Fridays at work. I'm going to try some odor eater inserts and see how that goes.

BTW: Rainbow flip flops > Reefs

What about the ladies version- "Stash". Bought a pair for my wife, she loves them but doesn't really use the "drawer" that slides out the back. Supposed to be for keys or credit cards, but who knows what it gets used for.

Try putting your boat shoes in a plastic bag and then putting them in the freezer over night...I've heard that works.
