steering question

I have on 06 197. We went out to the course the other day and the boat tracked straight for the first two sets. ON the way back to the dock if I let go of the wheel it veers hard left. The boat always use to track straight. My wife doesn't want tension in the wheel and I dont really care about the tension but what went wrong?

Dealer says to open the back and check the rudder alignement to see if you want to adjust it.

My question is what could of caused this so suddenly.

Prop is ok no vibration.

Any ideas

May have had a piece of debris (plastic bag, plant matter etc) hung up on the rudder on the way back.
