I chased tail lights for eight years in Arizona. We had a similar law. The fine MAY be $1k extra but the judge makes the ultimate decision. Most times when people actually went to court the judge(s) usually reduced their fines for whatever silly reason.

Yeah, beleive me there has been a bit of a uproar over that BS. WAY out of line.....From what I have heard alot of areas are not enforcing it. Hopefully it will be shot down before long. I think they challenged the speeder cams in Va and won. Its a shame laws in Va rolled with a little common sence till lately. All these frigging I know whats best for you peeps rolling into town.

They had that for about a year. The "Civil remedial fees" were repealed in March 2008.

Governor Kaine and Delegate Albo realized the error of their ways. Ha.

Now they have to find another way redistribute wealth. Liberals never give up.

Govt never ceases to amaze me at their greed and massive appetite for money. With no consideration to who is harmed in the process.

Red light cameras sold as safety measures???? 1st year in houston no reduction in accidents, 2.8 mil in revenue. We truly are sheep.

Here in East TN, a local camera produced a neutral effect on accidents. Side collisions are down, while rear-end collisions are up.

Just another form of taxation, seldom for public safety. ;)

Here Carolina they can take your license for going over 75. That's the posted limit in Nebraska. Husker troopers could fine you $10 on the spot and no points for the first 10mph over. Everyone called it a $10 permit to speed.
