Ok ran the boat for the first time today have a question about temp when I was running it around it stayed at 160 when I was at the no wake it went up too 180ish it only did this once the rest of the time in the no wake it was at 170ish. The water PSI gauge said it was at 10 when at high speed when I was at idle it hardly read. Any suggestions  btw I just replaced the impeller and it was the same way it was in there!

Did you check the strainer on the intake side of the transmission cooler for weeds or other obstructing debris?
What's a water PSI gauge?

3 quick checks ....
1. check the raw water intake at the bottom of the boat and make sure it is not clogged or blocked
2. check the strainer on the tranny cooler ..... make sure there is no debris like bigmac says ...
3. make sure your thermostat is working properly if 1 and 2 above are not the issue.
Good luck.

What's a water PSI gauge?
I have a 89 Prostar and the gauge that's on the right on the bottom I believe I called the mastercraft dealer asking about that gauge I thought it was a oil pressure gauge and he said it was a water pressure gauge?? Is he wrong?

The lower right-hand gauge directly above the switch/circuit-breaker panel is the engine oil pressure gauge. It's just below and to the right of the engine temperature gauge.

thats what I thought.... well why was that around 5 or 10... the motor ran fine and strong ::no ticks::

I ain't touching that with a 10' pylon!
My clock always says the water is the same depth as the month and day!

I have an 89 PS 190 with 856 hrs on it and it will read between 25 and 50 PSI. I would expect to see those numbers on an engine with some hours on it. You could have a bad sender unit/guage,very low oil/bad oil pump or an engine that is about to need a rebuild. Now that really narrows it down doesn't it.

well if it was my oil pump or my engine needed to be rebuilt wouldn't it be a sputtering or tapping or knocking?? Sometimes the thing read 0 im sure if it was 0 then the engine would have made one heck of a noise?? And anyway's where is the sender anyway's I looked everywhere I cant find it!

OH and back to the temp problem the strainer was cleaned but umm which hose has the thermostat in it?

It is a oil pressure sensor that is threaded into the block and sends a voltage signal to the pressure gauge.

i still cant find it but what is this that is screwed into the block of the engine??

well it says in the owners manual it is a drain petcock shouldn't there be a plug for that and what comes out of there anyways?? I'm stumped

I am not totally familiar with your boat. But, I will chime in. If your oil pressure is low and at some point read "0," then this is not good. It may be an indication of something about to go terribly wrong. I would not wait for an engine noise to decide that you have a problem with oil pressure. Personally, I would take it to a dealer. Let them diagnose your problem.
Oil's primary function is to lubricate. But, it also plays a role in cooling the engine. Let's say that your oil pump is failing. Oil is not circulating the way it is suppose to and thus does not cool as it is suppose to. Now, your engine is depending on the water to cool itself. Add in the fact that you are at idle speed and the water intake system does not have the added pressure of speed to help circulate the water.
Personally, I would not take any chances. Get the boat to a dealer and they may be able to fix it before it gets worse. I would find it easier to live with a few hundred dollars to replace an oil pump vs the money it would cost to either rebuild or replace your engine.

The brass fitting is the left bank water drain petcock. Usually it has "wings" on it so that you can easily drain the water out of the left side of the engine without need of a tool. Your wings appear to have broken off, if my old eyes are to be trusted.

well I found the oil pressure unit they spray painted it black and kind of threw me off it was in front of my eyes the whole time! So I went to auto zone and got a new one put it on turned on the motor it pegged 80 so I thought it was the gauge so I took the dash apart and checked the gauge I unhooked the temp gauge and switched wires and it did the same thing and pegged the temp gauge SO I thought it was not tight enough so I tightened it more and I broke the darn fitting that went into the motor block soo I gave up! I took the thing back and they ordered me a new pressure sender I came to the conclusion that it was too darn hot to mess with it on my day off I will be in the pool with a 12 pack! cheers! And on another note I will let you know when I finally do fix it and I guess 80 psi is better then 5-10 now ;)

Well I finally figured it out I took back the auto zone sensor and got another one and also broke another brass fitting ::go figure:: installed it and it pegged at 80 again so I got mad took it off and decided to put the old one back on turned on the boat it finally read at 15 psi so I was messing with the top of there the wire plugs in and barely touched it and one of the nuts was loose it hissed I tighten it back down and now it reads 35ish psi at idle! So I guess I finally fixed the stupid thing after working on it all day whew and on the temp I tighted my impeller cover a little bit more and ran it out of the water and let it idle for about 15 20 min and the temp only got to about 150ish so hopefully everything is fixed! I would like to replace the thermostat thought if I ever find it??

Hmmm, funny. I have a loose wire story, but it is too long to tell.
Was there water leaking from around the impeller housing? Had you replaced the impeller? If not, it might not hurt to replace the impeller. Just make sure you replace the seal. Do not reuse the current seal. You must be careful when tightening the impeller housing screws. The torque required to properly tighten them is not much and they are easily stripped or broken (from what I have read).

See the triangular housing in front of the distributor, with the 3 chrome bolt caps on top, the two blue color Indmar hoses coming off each side going to the front of each of the 2 exhaust manifolds and the big hose coming in from the bottom from the circulating pump? That is the thermostast housing, taking the nuts off that have the red cap on it will expose the thermostat behind it and replace the thremostast with one just like the one you took out, clean up the surfaces, install new gasket and bolt it back up!~

I already replaced the impeller AND thanks for the pic I took it out I tryed to match one up at the autozone no go i should have learned my lesson from the oil sending unit but my old thermostat is all rusted and not that great looking so Im going to replace it anyways see if it makes a diffrence??

Its pretty close if you have a 160 degree thermostat. I would guess your temp. sensor is off by a little bit but I wouldn't worry about it as long as it doesn't start running hot.
