Is there a difference between a marine and automotive water pump? The ski-dim water pump is almost twice as much and if it the same thing why spend more?

OK I'm looking at them now and the only automotive one I can find is the one that says it is for a pre 1972 350. It looks exactly the same but seems to old. There is only one on the skidim site. Is this the same pump for all 350 Mastercrafts?

The shaft seal is different on a marine pump. The ones for cars and trucks are made to be used with coolant, not just water and definitely not salt/brackish water. GM shipped a lot of pumps out on '98 that had the wrong seal, but they didn't admit it, so most dealers and MC replaced them with Sierra pumps. SchoolSkier knows very well about this issue and he got three of them in one year.
