So, I finally tackled my bow lift ring which has been broken since day one of my ownership. I purchased a slick little number as a replacement that is actually a pop up style ring. I don't know why the old one was broken, but it has rusted through completely as did the bow u-bolt nuts. It took 3 hours to remove and 20 minutes to replace. I had to cut (eek!) my fiberglass behind the triangular bow cushion to get to it. I used a dremel and did a horrible job, but it is still structurally sound and you will never see it. I also had to ream out the hole for the new lift ring to slide in and cut the supplied replacement threaded rod down to size due to the housing of the pop up ring being so long. All in all, an interesting experience. I really like the the recessed ring and it cost me about $40 shipped (off of ebay). Not too bad considering the cost of the plain style ones. I had to replace it anyways, so it was worth the extra couple bucks.

The first picture is of the old ring and threaded rod (after I cut it. Did you know hardened stainless steel is a S.O.B. to cut with a hacksaw?) The next two are of the new ring installed flush and then popped up. The last is the hole I had to cut. No Bueno!
