Can anybody answer this question for me. I have an 07 X2. At the back of the boat right above the handle my gelcoat cracked. There is now a hole about the size of a 50 cent coin. What I thought was odd was that the gelcoat back there is paper thin and it is not up against the frame of the boat. There is about an inch gap between the gelcoat and the boat's body across the back of the boat. I thought this might be a manufacturer defect or something. With the gap there and how thin the gelcoat is, it seems like its going to keep cracking everytime something bumps up against it. Does anyone know if this is normal or should the gelcoat have been applied directly on the boat? Has this happenned to anyone and how did you repair it? Any help would be great!

Since the boat should still be under some kind of warranty for something like that, I would get it to the dealer to have it investigated and repaired w/o delay!

Yes it is a defect or quality control issue. Bring it to dealer to have fixed as they should have no problem fixing it and making it good as new. I too have had something similar thin gel coat area that have also punched out to reveal the black underneath. The dealer has fixed it and you can't even tell it was there to begin with. Mine was not at handle location. I have also heard from several other 07 X2 owners of similar thin gel coat in some areas. First time I have heard of the handle area though. I personally wrote Greg Clower of MC customer relations and sent him pics of mine so they can step up QC on the assembly line. Dealer took care of it all no problems or questions asked.

Better to get it back in now before you have a real problem. Good thing you have the warranty on the gelcoat.

I just got off the phone with the service center and they confirmed what you said Roonie. Sometimes when they are spraying gelcoat it can get airpockets. Its considered a manufacturer defect and they are going to take care of it on monday and try to get it back to me before the weekend.
