Guages go off and on

I have a '05 PS 197, and this last weekend as I was driving along in relatively smooth water, all the guages went dead for a couple of seconds and then came back to life. They then stayed alive for long periods of time only to suddenly go dead again for a couple of seconds and then come back on again. All the guages did this together. No loss of engine power. In fact, if I were not looking at the guages, I would not have known they went dead. This happened about 4 times throughout the day. Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix it?

loose wire? bad ground? did you check all the wireing and ground?

sounds like loose wing nut on the battery.

We had the same problem with an 07 - 197.
I think it was the wiring under the dash. From memory the wires were bound together with zip ties too tightly which was causing one of the connections to come loose.

I will check with the guy who fixed it and get back to you if the above is not correct.
