A few years ago someone posted a photo of an old tri-hull boat like that with a tower built out of treated 2x4s and carriage bolts. The guys looked like they were enjoying it.

i honestly think that is a roll bar (like the one Walker Texas Ranger has in his Dodge)... and someone has slapped in on their boat... notice the perfectly straight front down posts and the approx 45 deg angle for the rear down bars... innovative i tell you
