View Full Version : Bilge Pump won't turn off

I have a 2006 197 and last eve I noticed my bilge pump was running and won't shut off. It's a rule 750. I unplugged it to shut it off and took it apart and the float is not stuck; in fact I removed the float and it still won's stop running.

Any ideas or suggestions...thanks...

Bad float switch, I'd guess. I'd buy a new float switch if that's possible, or a new bilge pump unit.

thanks but the float switch in integrated right into the unit.

Looks like you need a new bilge pump, then.

will it stop with the power switch turned off? maybe the switch is bad? does it only run all the time with the switch on 'auto' position? some common sense questions but just want to help check possibilities. if the switch appears good, then it must be the pump. good luck.

There no longer is a 3 way switch man/off/auto. there is only a 2 way switch now man/auto

Take your bildge pump out (I know its a pain)... Take it apart and clean all the crap out... Usually a little piece of leaf or dirt or mud etc... can get stuck in there and won't let the switch drop back down (which turns the bildge pump off)...

Probably don't need a new pump because you KNOW it works ( becauase it is stuck on).

I would disconnect the battery though (unless pulling the key kills the electrical in your boat) because running the pump dry WILL kill it.

P.S. if you already bought a new pump - SEND ME THE OLD ONE!!! I actually need one!!!
