the ratchet style racks on my 2003 tower need some attention

what's the best way to lubricate them so they function properly without catching?

they work well, but need some lube love. they're a little sticky and the springs are making some noise. was thinking WD40, but don't want to make a big mess or find it on my vinyl or in my boat on a hot day

thanks in advance

I had them on my '03 230VRS, I think I either used WD40 or silicone spray. Either will work for you, just get ready with a rag and work them back and forth a few times. You may even want to tie some rags under the racks overnight to prevent dripping, either that or take the racks off the boat, lube and re-install. (easy to take them off)

I loved the way mine worked, just not the way they look.

njskier, you ever have any problems with yours?

people seem to either love them or hate them (most seemingly the latter).

i've read several threads about people losing part of the forks in the lake after friends bend them with the rope or by leaning too hard on them messing with boards.

i'm wondering if i ever lose/break one i can replace them with something different??? like the 04's maybe? or is the hole pattern different?
