I have a 79 S&S and need to replace the Impeller on the 351 PCM. Any pics or guides to go by as this is my first time?:eek3:

Do a search. There are many threads on this topic. There are many techniques for replacing your impeller. One that I like is using two paint can openers to pull the old one. One other tip... don't over torque the cover screws. They are brass and are easy to damage.

Here's the impeller and housing on my '86. ALso seen them mounted on the front of the crank on other models. follow your raw water intake (after tranny cooler) hose, should lead you there.

Take a pic or mark the orientation of your pump the first time around just to be safe. Also, spin the impeller in the same direction it came out. again, pics help a lot.

A little different than changing one on an INDMAR motor...still pretty easy to do

a) Loosen belt
b) Make sure that you know which way your pump is orientated.
It is easy to install upside down/180 DEG out.
Make sure you put it back the way it came off !!!
c) Unscrew housing and pull apart
d) Install NEW impeller.
e) Reverse order

Thanks

Good deal. I have actually had my pump off and put it back on upside down!! I noticed it right away, as when I run my boat in the driveway, I always suck water out of a bucket, as opposed to forcing water in.
