I have the new steering cable for replacement of my old one but cannot get the old cable out. I have a 2001 Maristar 210VRS. I have disconnected the cable at the rudder and helm, unscrewed the locking nut on the cable and pulled hard. The end of the cable will not pass through the fitting on the rudder end of the mount. Do I have to remove the fitting from the end of the tube OR remove the entire support/adjustment tube from the bottom of the boat? Can anyone give me the secret? Thanks!
