View Full Version : small engine oil leak

I have a small engine oil leak when the boat is sitting for a long period of time. (5-6 days). It's just under the bell housing. Near the starter.
Not at the center of the bell housing. Engine is a 1993 351 H0.
Last summer I have changed the oil pan gasket and this winter I have changed the rear main seal. Valve covers seal have been changed too.
Oil drain hose is new also. The cap (bronze bolt) does not leak.

After running the boat, there is no leak. 24hours later still no leak or maybe one drip of oil !
But greater to 24hours it starts to leak.
Is there any other gasket to check ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Front transmittion oil seal if you remove the starter is there oil below the fly wheel and probally round the starter?

Thanks for your answers. Breezy, my birthday is pretty sooon ! :) :)
Transmission has been completely rebuilt 2 years ago. No leak at all.
When I remove the starter there is no oil below the fly wheel and around the starter. The oil is brown (engine oil). If it was transmission oil it should be "pink".
