Since you're all so helpful with everything else I thought I would try a hand at this one.

We're heading to DC for a wedding soon and would love to play some golf while we're there. Any recommendations? My first thought was the TPC at Avenale until I discovered it's Private (I've played at a TPC course before that was open to the public).

Any ideas? I'm hoping for something "special", not just a local place.

Thanks in advance for your help!

How about on the Mall?

This is out near Leesburg, Virginia but may be worth the drive.

I've driven past this place but never played it. May not be that special.

Thanks VERY much! The Robert Trent Jones course looks very good.

Anyone else?

I was watching something on the travel channel about a course in DC that was all computerized, it was more of a shooting range, and you aim for big targets and the computers can track your golfballs to see how close you get.

Hope this helps at all, I'm not a huge golf fan.
