2005 MasterCraft X2
134 Hours
350hp MCX
MC Cruise
950lbs of factory ballast (rear and center)
Red metal flake
Swivel board racks
Depth finder
2 duct heater
Tower mirror
Teak platform

List price is $41,750 which seems high to me for a 3 year old boat. But I have no clue.

I went to see it today. Dealer didn't come right out and offer any sort of discount. He even claimed he took it on trade for $41k, which I find very hard to believe.

Opinions??

Good looking boat, here's a start http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-24-38-5694-0-0-0&l=1&w=24&p=38&f=5697&m=1066&y=2005&ml=M&gc=MR&gtc=MR&d=1600222478

Seems like a fair price to me. Metalflake and black hull adds a few grand to the original cost, so it should be reflected in today's price too. There are a lot of 08's with red metalflake and black bottoms due to the 40th boats, but for an 05, that's not so common.

Nice looking boat! (However that red building is AWFUL!) :)

Has some nice options, however no tower speakers or perfect pass so keep that in mind if you want to add them later.

My rule of thumb is always offer to pay approx. 10% under asking price, you'll probably get it. (or get the dealer to throw in some extras like the options I mentioned) That hull is in pretty good demand though.
(I think a new base X-1 now sells for around $50K)

I think it would be more. And if you add the black hull, metalflake, MCX, and heater, you are pushing 60K.

I had a 2005 X2 MCX, but not metal flake. Great boat and wake. I say that boat with those hours in perfect shape is worth about 36 to 37K. It is a sharp boat. But remember, metal flake can wear through the clear coat with time.

...........He even claimed he took it on trade for $41k, which I find very hard to believe.

Mr. Dealer probably showed customer $41 in trade, but maybe overallowed as much as 10%, so actual trade was @ $37. But if you call to talk to original owner he will tell you they gave him $41 in trade, but the new boat he bought was $60K instead of $56.

. But remember, metal flake can wear through the clear coat with time.

What the heck does that mean??? When will all the anniversary boats wear through?

I'll spot you that the metalflake is protected by a layer of clear coat, but it should last forever if cared for. I will also spot you that it is more fragile than standard gelcoat.

It doesn't much matter how much he actually took for trade. It only matters how much someone will pay for this boat in this condition.

i'd offer 40, pay 40,500 and add pp. :)

seriously though, sounds like a nice ride. if you're serious, go work with them. see what they'll do. try to get the price you want and allow for PP.

Our local gel coat repair person says he has to repair metal flake boats almost twice as often as non-metal flake boats. Our local MC dealer even says you have to be more meticulous in caring for the metal flake finish. But, that does not mean that with good care it can not last a long time.

I agree with Brucemac. Its is a beautiful boat and if it represents everything you want, then see if the dealer will work with you.

I should have mentioned that the asking price of $41,750 includes two 8" D-BOT 5 tower speakers and an amp. They do not appear in the pics because they haven't actually installed them yet.

http://www.buywake.com/catalog_images/Dbot5/sm/jetpackII6_5.jpg

I was told that w/out the speakers the price becomes $41k even.

I also asked about a stainless steel rub rail. They could add that for $400 (ouch!!).

When I inquired about 2008 X1 graphics (just for fun), I was also quoted $400 (again... ouch!! that's a lot for stickers).

I don't know if the boat has bimini. I would assume it did, but it's not listed in the ad and I forgot to ask.

What is the difference between Perfect Pass and MC cruise??

Thanks for your help!!

If I were you I would want the bimini! Also, get the stainless rub rail! I have the same year/model boat with the black rub rail. The rub rail picks up the white paint from the soft MASTERCRAFT bow guide covers. So much that I took the soft guide pole covers off this year! I hear most of the $$ for the stainless rub rail is in the shipping. I think they are shipped in the shape of the boat! If you don't do the stainless rubrail, save the money and don't get the MC guide pole covers.

Speakers are up to you. Are you into loud music or not? Probably help with resale value, but you can always add them later.

MC Cruise vs PP. Good question. I have MC cruise and it works fine for me. In June I will have the opportunity to test the same boat with PP. Only downfall of the MC cruise is I wish the speed would go lower than 10 MPH sometimes for surfing. With PP you can set your speed slower than 10 MPH! Also, I've noticed PP tends to kick in and catch the speed quicker. But I have also heard from the CIE guys that run a lot of weight for wakeboarding and they say the MC cruise holds speed better than PP?

Today I talked to Pat.

i didn't catch it had cruise. heck, that boat is ready to go! bimini's aren't cheap though (factory anyway), so be sure to ask. my boat didn't come with one and it cost me $790 from towerbiminis.com. factory for my boat was ~$800 (factory mc one had straps for my year so didn't get it).

hey also, for what it's worth, i was looking for quite a while and you're going to be hard pressed to find that boat, especially with mcx, for under $40. i bought my 03 X-2 about a month ago (from lake oswego as a matter of fact) and had been looking for quite a while. 02/03's were mid $30's well optioned--some even higher. you may even find that you have a tough time finding that many for sale. i sure didn't see many. there was a blue 03 X-2 on seattle craigslist last week though.

if you're serious, go take that thing for a water test. that mcx rips that boat out of the hole like nobody's business! :)

good luck and keep us posted!

that's a sweet looking 08!

Fair price too me, but offer 36K and be prepard to walk if you have too. If you make a solid offer and leave I bet you will get a call. Times are tough and not just at the gas pump. I assure you he did not give 41K for trade, dealers only give wholesale or less. Also depending on the boat the customer bought (example 07-08 X2) if they sold it at retail you could probably figure in realistic numbers the trade in may be in the high twenty's due to the mark up.

I know what retail and what I actually paid for my boat was WAY WAY lower. So if the customer bought at high retail then they stole the trade.

Look at NADA link in the post and go a few thousand below and be ready to buy the boat.

I've seen that boat. I bought my x-1 at PSBC, if you talk to Pat he will work with you on price. I would not pay full asking price. that boat has been there for awhile. But a great looking boat none the less.
