weird huh? its about 30miles NE of Houston. kinda river bottom land that is known for it's HUGE underground salt domes... energy is stored here in the form of gas and oil. MOstly Nat Gas. While I dont know the details of this one, no doubt this was another known dome which somehow began to give way..

Im no engineer, but I've been told in the past that oil companies keep the pressure up in these huge underground caverns somehow which keeps it from caving-in. I have no idea if this is true.

it always seems that these things are in podunk or less populated areas... I'm guessing the reason the highway is where it is, has something to do with DOT knowing where the more solid ground was in the first place???

One day this world will implode with all the natural gasses and oils the big companies pulling out from under the earth surface. On another subject, nice thing about global warming we'll have more area to boat on.

Same thing happened here, where I live.
Except instead of oil machines dissapearing, it was alligators, ducks and fishes.

The shoreline of Scott Lake (http://www.baynews9.com/images/news/2006/6/19/lgsinkinglake1.jpg) continues to expand . . .
Scott Lake in Lakeland is draining rapidly.

Hey, Ric, this may be your new private lake if it keeps growing a bit more.
