Looking for some feedback on engine/transmittion noise. I took a 2001 X-9 for a test drive the other day. Seemed to run fine, just when I put it into reverse, there seemed to be a bit of a whine as it operated in reverse - maybe in the transmittion or drivetrain, not sure. Is that normal engine noise for these boats/motors, or it that something I should be concerned with. Do these motors have transmittion/drivetrain issues to be aware of or again, is it normal.
Thnks

The first question I would ask is have you ever driven an inboard boat previously? The reason I ask this is that every inboard ski boat that I have been in makes a distinct whining noise when put in reverse. If this is the noise you are hearing it is considered normal. Maybe someone else on this board can tell us why the transmission makes this noise in reverse?

hey streak it's probably normal whine in reverse that we all have, but if you are not sure, get another inboard skier or a boat mechanic to ride along and listen
