I’ve found a “must have” newer Mastercraft 190 but before I bite it off I want to see what the market is like for my current ride. It’s a 1997 with right at 140 hours showing on the meter but was verified to be 122 hours (It’s not been fired since hooked to the computer and verified. The difference I was told is that the hour meter clicks if the ignition is switched on. Apparently someone left the ignition in the on position at some point). It has the TBI 350, 1:1 trans, brand new Acme prop, brand new Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro, and brand new (week old) custom bimini. The hull condition is 99.9%. There is literally only four scuffs on the entire hull, none larger than a quarter. I will buff them out and the hull will be nearly perfect. The carpet is perfect. The vinyl is original and is clean as a whistle however the decorative baseball stitching (I don’t know the technical term) has come out in a lot of places. It detracts very little from the appearance. There is also several (4???, I’ll have to check) small cuts with the largest probably being less than an inch in length. The engine and bilge look brand new. The trailer is in great condition.

Before the bimini and Perfect Pass I could let it go for $16,900 but these two items ran the cost up quick and I’d need to get $18,900 for me to do it. I could remove the Perfect Pass and drop the price $1000 to $17,900.

What’s the general consensus? Can I move it for this amount? If not I’m going to just keep it.

Here’s a picture, when/if I decide to sell it I will take as many high def pics as you could want.

$16,000 is in the ball park not considering the brand new Perfect Pass and Bimini. How did you factor in these two items? Back out $2000 for them and I'm at $16,900.

Ebay moves ski boats SLOW. I watch it all the time. Last week a 1997 in good shape, but not nearly as good of shape as this one, and without a perfect pass, and without a bimini sold (yeah, thats rare on ebay) for $16,700. It had more than 4 times the hours. 122 hours on a 1997 averages 11 hours a year.

Additionally, I got to a rock bottom price with a dealer on another boat without mentioning trade. When I did mention a trade he offered me a well over $16,000.

I imagine you could get $17,500 for it fairly easily with the options. I would say a boat that year with anything less than 500 hours would be considered low hour and probably fetch just about the same price.

I sold my '96 last year with a tandem trailer, custom cover, custom bimini, nice stereo, LT-1 and powerslot for $18k. It had 453 hours and was in better than showroom condition. I would say the closed bow ski boat market is soft and getting softer by the minute! Mine sat on the market for 6 months without a bite. Ended up going on ebay and a guy drove 1000 miles to get it!

you might have better luck striping all the new stuff off the boat and selling it on Ebay or the other places

-ACME prop
-new bimini
-perfect pass

here in nor cal the market is real soft for closed bow boats. granted some of these boats have many more hours, however a extemely low hour boat like your scares me ....

If it was anything but purple I would be interested. Damn the bad luck:(

On a side note..... I sold a 1995 PS 190 LT-1 last summer with 250 hours in great condition for $18,250 so I don't think you are too far off. You just need to find the right buyer

i agree with datdude, the purple might hurt you. it was cool in the 90's though! the boat market is like the housing market. if you price it right it will sell quick, if you price for what i should be worth, you will sit on it for ahwhile until that someone who really wants it comes around.

I just took in on trade a 1996 Prostar 190 with LT-1 and slot (710 hours) Black/white/small teal stripe color combo. Nice shape with perfect pass bimini, cover, and single axle trailer that I will let go for only $14,900. Won't last long...... Callme for info. Tom-407-982-0341. Will be in marketplace and ebay soon......

I believe that'd be the best bet. I'd probably leave the bimini on, take the PP and ACME and let it rip.

I can assure you that all fear would subside with a ride........

I don't get it...why sell it? Will you put more hours on the new boat? If your boat is in show room condition, why do you need a new boat? Use the boat you have and spend the money on gas.

Never said I need a new boat. I recently started skiing (last year) and bought an 83 S&S (still have it) then I bought the 1997 with low, low hours. Now I want a new hull and the excuse I use is the extra space. Weak excuse, I know, but that's just me..........

Watch what boats like yours are fetching on the other sites...watch their options, etc.

I think the best site, in the end, to move your boat quickly is boat trader. You need to make sure the pricing is in line with other yrs/models in similar condition with similar features.

Spring is the best time to sell a boat.

When I sold my '92, they were listing on boat trader much higher than KBB. I went with a competitive boat trader price and sold in 2 days...I think I could have sold it 3x over.

With such good condition, make sure you post pictures to demonstrate this.

Ooooh, nice!
We had some nice weather down here this weekend. Is there a ski course on that lake?

Great pics bx. That is a clean-looking boat.
Good luck on the sale!

I've just about decided to keep the boat. I'll email you pics of the one I'm contemplating. It's nice, a closed bow 2003 without the hook (no big deal to this rookie).

As for the lake, its private and about 30 miles from my home. I went to it three times last year with the owner and thats exactly the total times he went all year. Its ashamed! Yesterday I left the S&S there for good (in a huge metal building) and gained access! No one else has access so I'm most appreciative. He said we could put up a slalom course so we'll see.......

Browns Cross Roads (bxroads). You won't find it on the map, just north of Dothan.

Tell me about it! If I felt I wouldn't have to give this one away I'd be all over it. The 2003 doesn't have a PP and the parts to make the one on the 1997 compatable are only $120 (paddle wheel housing, cable, and white guage face). I could yank the PP and feel comfortable letting it go for $16,900. Any takers????
