Called my parents this morning - they felt it in Peoria.
I did not feel it in the Twin Cities - but then again I hadn't had my coffee yet!

Don't be surprised. There is a major fault called the New Madrid that is located in your area of the country.

Read some on the New Madrid fault and when in it's first recorded quake in the early 1800's it change the course of the Mississippi (a few horse shoe lakes that used to be the river)and actually reversed the flow for a short period time!!!

I was awakened by a shaking bed and rattling cabinet door here in NW Illinois. Of course my wife was in a panic as usual and I told her to just go back to bed as it was probably just a distant earthquake...I love it when I'm right for once. :D

I didn't feel it either. A couple of co workers were talking about it. Of course I slept through the last one in Atlanta a couple of years ago.

Yea, same here on both accounts (woke up, LSL). Wife woke up shouting "the house is a rockin'"! :D I told her it was just the washing machine load wasn't balanced, rolled over and went back to sleep.
