Where do you tap the hot water source for the heater on an RTP engine. The heatercraft directions suggest there is a port in the manifold next to the T-stat. I've got a hole plug there. Is this it or do I tee the tap off the block that runs my shower......this seems a bit of an anemic approach because the heaters run a 5/8" hose...

I tapped into the hose running back from the heater and the shower is PIPING hot!!

For the heater, you will go to the port near the thermostat housing. I have a picture somewhere, I'll try to post it. It's from the MCX, but I'm sure they are in about the same spot between the 2 engines.

You were lucky to be able to take your shower feed off the block drain. The MCX has dual knock sensors, so we can't take out shower feeds there. With the heater installed on the MCX, taking the hot feed for the shower from a T in the heater line (that comes off the thermostat area of engine) works really really well. Probably as well as where your shower is tapped off block.

I must be missing it. Where does the shower install thread cover the hot water source for the HEATER as to whether it is from the block or the port from the manifold by the T-stat? I don't think it answers my question??

I think he misread your question as a shower question.

Yes, your heater hot source is intake manifold plug you are looking at.

Here are two pics of where water is drawn form the block. I have a T fitting instead of 90 degree bc I have heat and shower. This is one of two locatons you can draw water from. The other is the passangerís side pepcock drain. I tried that location in the spring to I could more easily match the winterizing setup from the other board. However, since my engine/boat is 6 years old, I got allot of rust which clogged the screen in front of my control.

The cold water intake is pretty obvious after the raw water pump.

The I will second the improved heat following the Y-pipe install!

RTP heater install thread on wakesiderides.com (http://www.wakesiderides.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17249)

Please note that I removed the fitting from the waterpump tap and put in the "Y" pipe towards the end of the thread.

Really? It must be from the wakesiderides site. My computer just gets a toolbar pop-up that states:

"This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Microsoft Data Access Remote Data Service Dat...' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website..."

Could that be the cause?

Yes thats it.

It is the website as I tried some other topics and it happened on every one of them. It gave me a trojan every time I clicked on a new topic.

OK...1/2 installed in a couple hours today. Will get some pics when I complete. Glad I ordered a two port as the 3 port wouldn't have fit behind the drivers kick panel....don't know if I'll get a good pic of what I had....PITA

Here's the synopsis of costs.....copied the shutoff valve design from P-hat in Cinci.

* 2 port/3 speed heater unit/brackets/3-spd switch - summit racing - $148 (shipped)

* 25ft of heater hose - $28.75

* Ball Valve - $6.95
* Nipple -Watts A-836 - $1.49
* 1/2 MPT to 5/8 Hose Barb - Watts A-493 - $1.79
* 1/2" Brass Street El - Watts A-832 - $3.49
* 3" x 20' flex duct hose - $6.99

* 2 hot tubes - 32.22x2 = $64.44
* Y-tube - $34.50
* Ski-dim shipping - $11.50

So, $305 incl shipping

Still waiting for my package from DIM, so I can't complete this yet...
