Well, today I pulled the trigger on a new to me 2001 209. I am picking it up on April 15th. It would be sooner but we are headed to Disney tomorrow. Thanks to all of the TMC members that have offered advice!

Nice boat. I got my 209 last year, and it has the same tower as the one you're in. At first, I didn't think I would like the tower, but have come to realize it's works out great, especially with the bimini on hot summer days.

Yeah, It has the LTR. I wish it had PP and a tower, but alas, cant have it all. Perfect pass will come, I figure it will pay for itself in saved arguments with my wife over speed control.

Yes, the engine does turn higher RPMs, and from my experience the top end speed is about 44 - 46 mph, so I think you're in the ballpark. Mine has the stock prop, although I would have to look and confirm the pitch, etc. My year model is 2005. The low end torque is great, and the hole shot is unlike any boat I've ever been in. My brother just recently bought an '06 X-STAR with the 8.1L 450HP. We took it out last Saturday, and while it was impressive, I think the MCX will beat it from a dead-stop to 30mph. We'll see this summer, although it's not an apple to apple comparison. PM me and I'd be glad to discuss further with you.

I have the LTR, I dont think the MCX came out until 2003. I think the MCX looks cooler!

I ran the 2001 with LTR just under 42mph (per my GPS). It has a 4 blade prop, not sure of pitch.

Does that sound right? 42 mph?

42 sounds about right but like i said this one was turning a little over 5000 rpm!! i may call OJ props and see what the deal is! it would be nice to get it propped right!!

Good find Grover - you will love it. I have an '02 with the predator 310 HP and it does everything our family needs! I put a tower on, but I do like the lines of the boat with out a tower. Looks great!

Congrats, boys on the new toys. I am looking at an 04 x9. Stupid question but is this the exact same boat and hull as a 209? Is there a price difference between the two if the 209 had a tower?

peason
04-04-2008, 03:04 PM
There probably is a difference since the X-9 will have a ballast system as opposed to the 209 with a tower. Yes it is the exact same hull as the 209.

ShamrockIV

i wonder how much to add ballast to a 209??

i like the stuff on the x9 but i am not too crazy about the graphics!!

mine has x9 tower but not ballast and has 209 graphics!! best of both worlds!! all i need now is ballast!!

Sham-

Recommended RPM at WOT for the MCX is 4800-5200 rpm. Sounds like you are right in the middle of the recommendation.
