View Full Version : Rear ABS motor, where is it?

Allright, my wifes 99 Cavalier Z24 has had the "ABS" and "Brake!" light on. I went and got the diagnostics done on it, it comes up as "Rear ABS motor failure".
Where is the rear ABS motor on braking systems? Is it in the rear of the braking system or up by the brake booster/fluid resevoir?
I can fix it if I know where it is......................

My 91' suburban had rear abs brakes. My module was in the engine compartment next to the master cylinder. Mine was a black, plastic box that had wires plugged into it.

Thanks a bunch. I might just run to the parts store and ask them to see the part and what they know about replacing it.

My wife's '99 Explorer did and said the same thing and it was the ABS sensor on the left rear of the axle that had gone bad. $17 and 5 minutes to replace and it cleared the light and code.

It is (unfortunately) not a sensor that has gone. It is the ABS motor, which I am under the impression does the pulsations. We'll see tonight at the parts store.
