View Full Version : Another Stars and Stripes Question

I have a friend who has a 1976 ss which he loves dearly and would never part with. I am looking at Shamrock's 83 and am wondering what the differences between the 76 and 83 are. Are the hulls the same, do they ski the same, is the interior the same size etc...

They are two different hulls I believe. I had a 78 and my brother has an 85 and they are really different. The 78 had no bow storage, it was filled with foam. Was kind of a pain to carry gear in the boat. One has a round windshield the later one had a flat one. Don't get me wrong though the 78 was a great boat.

My first boat was a '76. Man I miss that thing, but I can visit it whenever I want. It is currently being used everyday at a ski school.
The hulls were changed in 77. If you notice the '76 has three stars in the front and the '77 has 4. The boat was made longer and wider. I think they changed again in the early 80's. There's a thread on here that lists when the hulls were changed

My '76 has no storage under the bow, or in the back. The only storage is under and behind the observer seat, but there's not much room)
I have tracking fins.
My boat has RH rotation, one piece plexiglas windshield, and textured deck. I don't think the '83 will have any of those.
