They have had jet drive lower units on outboards for a long time. Great for shallow water running.

I'm guessing it's one of those deals, "If you got to ask, you can't afford it"

Salt and jets are never an incredible idea, unless they are built for the environment and are truly "commercial grade". This thing looks pretty cool though! I can see alot of guys embracing it, if they want to run shallow water, but do not want to have an ugly aluminum jetboat to do it!

With that kind of power I wouldn't worry about planing out as much as I would tearing up the transom

looks as if the unit has enough surface that it would plane on itself, if that makes sense.

I don't think so..... the pod it's in is an extension of the hull and I assume part of mounting it correctly is so that it is close to bouyancy neutral... meaning it adds nothing to the weight of the boat when the boat is floating.

That would be a barefoot 200. Yes it does look weird to see an outboard motor on the back.

I like the Safe-T-Top/tower/bimini type setup on boat # 42! I'm not much of a tower man but dang that's interesting!
It must be a version of the Reverse Arch, http://www.samsonsports.com/wakeboard_styles_reverse.html
