I have had a LONG day! I worked ems today and when I got off I got started on the boat! Just got done for the night! I pulled it out and put my new registration numbers on it! I am very pleased with the way they look! I found them at Bass Pro Shop! Then I put the name on the back of it! I am happy with it too for now! I might eventually do something different! Then started my next job! Took the teak off and started sanding on it! My hands are still vibrating!! I added my own styling to it and want your opinion on how you think it looks! The edge of it had a pretty deep gash in it so I got the router out and routed around the whole edge and I really like the way it looks! It added a nice little step to the top of it! What do you think?

Don't get too much more detail or it'll be more likely to chip.

All you single guys better be looking to meet this gal!!! She buys a boat, works on it herself, and MAN...look at the tools she's got!!!

I thought about that but I really like it the way it is now. I don't want to take a chance on hitting one of the screws from the bottom side. That would be a new $40 bit destroyed!

I would be more worried about damaging that precious teak rather than an a 40$ bit. but ohnestly, I would rather not damage anything. good luck and good work so far.

and I dont know why, but some seemed to like my teak.

Well, of course! That's a given! I think I would cry if I damaged it!

I'm on about day 4 of my teaking project... yours looks good... mine soaked up the teak sealer like a sponge and gave it the first wet sand and re-coat... looks better w/ each coat... trying to get all the final rough spots off and get the flawless finish... good luck and it's looking good... the hardest thing is to not get impatient and shortcut something... i'm making myself stay off the water this weekend b/c of wanting to get the teak right

wchic, looks great. it looks like it had a varnish or polyurethane on it rather than teak oil or sealer. follow tmcno1's advice and use the teak oil/sealer. I redid mine this winter and it looks good too. I need to get pic in teak wars 08. neat idea to do router on edge.

guys, it appears she has a significant other if you have looked at her pics. however, I am still impressed that she routered it.

happy oiling and sanding...

Every sentence in the original post ended in an exclamation point, except the last. Teak is an exciting topic, nice work!

Looks great! I like the rounded edge...prevents chips and easier on the shins when you smack them on the edge...

Those orbital sanders are unbearable. I spent about 6 hours with one last weekend and my hands hurt like He**.

Looks great! I rounded the edges on my old platform also. I really liked the look. I did my slats also, because it seemed to clean them up also.

Sodar, that looks GREAT. You done good to wakechic! If I were you, I'd take that platform to a furniture refinisher and let THEM strip it. Won't cost much at all and they will do it quick, so you can get on the finishing part sooner. Trying to get all that old varnish and crap off can be a real hemoroid! let the experts do that crap.

Mine had a nice 1/2", 45 bevel around the edges till I got thru sanding and now it's rounded.
