I don't think I want to be like Harold. It sounds tough being in a 12-step teak addict program that never ends. :D

it's a 4310. 32 HP. I love my tractor. Would be great for a shop like yours since it is an eHydro drive. Two pedals, one you go forward, one you go back. No gears to shift. Has power everything (even cruise control). A nice feature of this one is a flat floor so you are not stepping over anything or around gear shifts when you get in and out.

I have five trailers and I have to move them around a good bit. I can use that iMatch coupler on the back and lift them and go. Heck of a lot easier that hooking up the truck.

Did you find it new or used? I had a 4600 on the line for $14k, but he sold it before I could pick it up.

I bought it used from a dealer in Mississippi. It was a repo and I only had to pay off the note. Twas a steal.

I don't armor all the tires on mine...that would get a little expensive with those...

Your boat has some unique MasterCraft history. Those GREEN metal flake boats only went to the TEAM SKIERS that year. (MC May have retailed a few but not many) Would be interesting to see whose yours belonged to before you got it if in fact it was a TEAM SKIERS boat.

Know of any other ones available?

no, check on eBay though...the 4310 is a great tractor and you can probably pick one up with a loader for around $12,000...

They are 4-wheel drive and have the Yanmar 3-cylinder diesel. Very, very solid.

Yea, or you can buy an old Ford N or 800 series for less than 5k and have a classic that is easy to work on, is going UP in value, totally indestructible, no plastic, and has a PTO and 3 point hitch. Ford made over 1 million of 'em so they are everywhere.

12K wow. I don't claim to know much about tractors at all. But one of my in-laws neighbors up at the cabin has a JD tractor I could have sworn it was a 4310, anyway his has a Positive Pressure cab on it. He has a front bucket and a rear sweeper. I about fell over when he said he has somewhere around 36k into his.

I was quoted 29k no cab no attachments on a 4310.

and they are an absolute PITA to drive around a yard and get in and out of and go from forward to reverse...

That's the new model. They changed designations two years ago so what was a 4310 is now a 3220. Here is one just like mine on eBay

You must of driven one w/o Power steering! Mine drives fine. I started driving it when I was 12, and now my kids are driving it. The only problem with mine is its not 4WD and we have lots of snow. In the south, that's probably not a concern. Get in and Get out of? Maybe you drove one w/o running boards. Most of them have 'em. Forward to reverse? Mine has a straight 4 speed, with a separate lever for hi-mid-lo range so 12 speeds. The new tractors still have clutches, separate brakes, hi-lo, etc. Higher tech, but still a tractor and WAY more $ and depreciation not Appreciation!

Brandon, my point is that mine has no selectable gears at all, has a range selector only for low, mid and high. Never have to shift anything. To go from forward to reverse you move your foot from one pedal to the other. That makes doing loader work and moving trailers around a breeze.

There are no levers in between your legs to make entry and exit an issue and the floor is flat.

It is a must to have four wheel drive if you are doing any loader work.

Also, the Deere machines are perfectly balanced on weight distribution so they are less likely to tip. I flipped a Kubota on the farm doing some very light loader work and will never drive one again. I also filled all four tires with antifreeze for added weight.

uawaterskier
04-01-2008, 01:13 PM
never heard of the antifreeze thing before...seems interesting.

wakeX2wake
04-01-2008, 01:19 PM
you have to put it in about every smaller tractor... i think everyone we have has antifreeze/water mixture in the rear tires... more rigidity... even our JD 4030 and big 7030

stuartmcnair
04-01-2008, 02:50 PM
basically it adds weight to the rear end so when you have a full loader it does not lift the wheels up where you lose traction..rear wheel lift is why you need 4WD as well
