View Full Version : Filling up empty tower space?

I have an ’06 X-1 and have two of the Mastercraft JL Tower speakers but that’s it. I would like to fill up the empty space (Other than my bimini). My first thought was two more speakers but as you all know that is not a cheap solution. The cheapest I have seen them is used for $1,000. There was a guy that had two with lights and speakers on craigslist in FL for $500. I called him a day after he post and he said I was the 15th person to call and he was starting to think he priced them too low….someone got a GREAT deal. My other thought was the mastercraft tower lights, the little ones that face forward, does anyone have those and if so what am I looking at cost wise?

I also have the price question about the small lights. Good question!

I checked out your Pics. nice looking X-1. I wanted the black line but would have had to wait so went with the red. The lights look great but I have no idea where to find them (besides the dealer) I am thinking the little bullet looking ones, look kind of like the speaker cans.

MC lights are spendy b/c they're basically custom billet. If you do more speakers, remember the more weight up there, the more your tower is going to rock back and forth in the chop. I have the lights facing backwards, although we never use them except to dock!

OR X-1, where are you in Oregon. Pat at the Portland Ski Boat Center should be able to give you a REALLY good deal on those. Tell him Bryan sent you.....

Pat sold me my boat! I actually worked out a deal with him when I bought it. But I will say he is a tough negotiator. Sean out there is a huge resource though and had some speakers a while back for a good deal. are you in OR? Pat is selling his boat right now and that is a great deal for someone looking for an x star.

Sean who? I'm in P-town. Where are you? How much does Pat want for his boat now? Last time it was $57k, good deal for someone.

Fill the space up with pink hanging "bewbies" like Skidog did in his red boat,

You sure those aren't a set of Rocky Mountain Oysters?

I'm in Portland area (Beaverton). Sean works in service, and sales from time to time. he was doing sales at the show to help out. I think he still has it at $57 but that is a great deal considering that most people sell their '04 x stars for the same price and his is an '06. Pat likes to make deals thats for sure. It's funny everyone has a story about that guy.

Well thank you sir. Your X1 looks pretty sweet as well. Those are the lights I was wondering about too. As for weight as someone mentioned, make sure you be careful. We just ordered a set from Eric at Chicago MasterCraft for a deal. You should go talk to him. But in anycase we are getting the tower braces because the added weight could pose a potential problem. Unfortunatley, the 06 you can't get tower braces but you have a much sturdier tower.

ORX-1

Thats a good point, I never thought about the extra weight. The lights would be a lot less weight for sure and I bet are a lot cheaper. I didn't realize there was a difference other than the look between the '06 and '07 tower.

I think they are too big to fit in one of these,

ORX-1, they changed the tower design in 2007. Lenny got screwed :D

Not the best quality video, but certainly makes you wonder about being held to a higher standard, especially since the title of the video starts with rickety?

Thats crazy. Sand2snow22 where do you ride? It's hard to find people that start riding this early in the season. are you out and running yet? I was going to call Portland ski today to get my boat dewinterized.

I dont know if I would say I got screwed. I'm getting the braces and labor and for free. So as far as I'm concerned I'm doing just fine.

The difference is in the two bars on the top of the 06 tower vs the 07 with only one.

Well just got some new to me tower speakers with lights (MC JL) in the mail today and will be wiring this weekend hopefully. I was looking at the lights too.

03-27-2008, 08:33 PM
Roonie's, your tower should already be prewired, yes?

Lennyp04

yeah the 07 is pre-wired.

Hey OrX-1,

Throw up some pics of your boat on the showroom. Its hard to appreciate it when the picture is an inch by an inch!

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 09:22 PM
Dude I have been trying to get them on here but I have to resize them. I should get a few on here tonight. The only thing I did to make it different was added the MC Flag and logo on the side like the X2, X15 and 45 all have. don't know why the X-1 doesn't have them...

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 09:32 PM
Oh I want to see these upgrades. The only thing I want to do to the side is put a nice MasterCraft decal right on the center of the sides.

I use a program called Irfanview. I'll see if I can get you a link....no promises though

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 09:36 PM
Lenny, this is my first try with the pictures... I think I will have to get better at resizing them, or get a host to put them online. we'll see how this turns out and if it is alright I have others.

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 09:39 PM
Ah Very nice. I usually put the width at 550 and it fits. Are those upgraded trailer wheels? And atleast your pulling with a real mans truck! To bad our X-1 will never see the back of our suburban! The tractor brings it down and drops it in and it stays there til its to cold!

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 09:40 PM
This one may be better

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 09:49 PM
Where did you get the MC flags from?

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 10:03 PM
I had the dealer get them for me. They are the same as they one's that they put on the other models.

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 10:05 PM
Yeah I know. That seems like one of those things that would be hard to get. I know I want to add a decal on the side that says MasterCraft just because personally I don't think the boat says MasterCraft big enough to read unless your within arms length of the boat. I dont want it to be guady but I want it to have the recognition it deserves!

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 10:08 PM
I bet you like the '08 then. it says Mastercraft down the whole side! I like our's better. But you could make your's look like the '08 I asked the dealer about getting the decals and they said no problem, but they are wax dripped so they cost a ton. not sure how much but it was like 400 a side i think.

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 10:14 PM
NO! I dont like the 08...I like my dads boat. Ha it took me a year to convince him that an MC was right and all it took was the breaking down and unreliableness of our other boat so we traded it in and bought this one. There is a guy on here who said he can do both sides for 100 bucks....not drip molded which is ok since they tend to fall off it you hit a dock or something....not saying I'm a bad driver just saying thats what happens. The MC flags are a nice addition. How much did they cost you if you don't mind me asking!

edit: good thing I can spell gudly!

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 10:21 PM
The flags and MCUSA were free. Our dealer makes their own decals and gives them to me whenever I want. pretty good deal.

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 10:27 PM
Ill say that's a good deal. Too bad our MC dealer doesnt make their own graphics! I would ask if you could get your hands on a pair or 2 of black ones. But I think that I couldn't to that because its copying your idea......unless your ok with it.

ORX-1
03-27-2008, 10:34 PM
i'll see if they have any laying around when i am in next time and let you know. and no worries our boats will never be side by side

Lennyp04
03-27-2008, 10:37 PM
True dat bro! I'll represent your sweet custom idea on the east cost while you bling it on the west. I like the way you think my friend.

If they have any avaliable please send me a pm or an email. And let me know prices for shipping and whatnot.

This would fill up the space nicely. I am working on a rear entertainment tower mounted 32" monitor. Of course, that would be for the next boat show. :D

ORX-1
03-28-2008, 11:34 AM
Sound sweet but prob cost more than a set of speakers! Also don't you have four already up there, where would the monitor go? That is totally the stuff you see at the shows. keep us posted.

It won't be on my boat, unless I sell this one. :D But I do have a few things in the works for the fall/winter boat shows. I was thinking about something like this. :headbang:

ORX-1

That boat is sweet! I have never seen that silver before. and the monitor looks great. The problem with a tricked out X-1 though, is that if you are going to spend over 50 on it you should just get an X-2 or X Star.
