I have 2004 X2 and it time for a new battery. I only have a single right now and was wondering if the Optima Blue Top is what I should go with?

If the Optima Blue top is the best....which version and why?

Myself I have the D31M (blue) 1125 MCA, 900 cold, 155 RC lasts all day with my system. Put a reading on this one new and it was over 1200 MCA, almost 1000 CA w/ over 200 in reserve....Not bad...Plus you can put these batteries in any position! on its side, shut upside down if you want.

Picking up a mate for it this summer. (longer trips to make on boat!)

If you are going to be sitting around listening to the stereo a lot then a two battery setup would be best. Go with the deep cycle battery (D34 - light grey body) to run your accessories. For the starting battery only then go with the 34M - dark grey body.

If you are going to stick with one battery go with the D31M which is a combination starting / deep-cycle.

for the money, i've found a lot more capacity and options with other batteries. Simply not worth $1/amp hour to mount it upside down. That feature is nice, but I can get creative with storage, too. Additionally, I'm running two different battery types because I bought into the optima hype intially. Kinda limits your charging options if you have two different types.

for powering a sound system: look into Kinetic batteries. or 2 6volt golf cart batts like I use. 225 amp hours, for about $150.
engine starting: walmart 12 month exchange program is REALLY hard to beat.

i had optima crawfish on batt warranty twice.. not for me.

I'm using a Walmart starting battery, Walmart deep cycle battery, and a Kinetic battery (which all five amps are attached to) and I torture my speakers all day long and never had a problem. Never used an Optima?

I just got an Optima Blue Top 34m, the reason being that it was the most economical group 34m battery I could find. I even found one on ebay for $99. Most reasonably priced marine batteries won't fit my battery box and allow the cover to lay flat. Anyone want to buy a 27m?

The specs far exceeded the CCA etc. recommended for my boat, so really, I was just concerned about size. Otherwise, I'd have just gone with a Delco marine.

That's the ticket right there. Run 2 Kinetics myself 2400 and 2000? I think. I do use the optima blue top for the starter.
