I noticed a new fuel additive by Sta-Bil for Marine use. Here are the advertised attributes:

BEST Ethanol Problem Fighter
Extra Corrosion Protection & Fuel System Cleaning
For Optimal, Everyday Performance & Protection
Recommended to be used at Every Fill Up, Not Just for Seasonal Storage
DOUBLE the Corrosion Preventers in Regular STA-BIL
Over FOUR TIMES the Fuel System Cleaner in Regular STA-BIL
Use in ALL 2 & 4-cycle marine engines, in gasoline, gasoline/oil mixtures and ethanol blends
Also safe to use in ALL stored or infrequently driven collector cars, motorhomes, tractors, snowmobiles, motorcycles, lawnmowers and ALL outdoor power equipment.
One bottle treats up to 80 Gallons

Should I be using this product with my MCX engine? My marina claims it does not sell ethanol fuel, but sometimes I wonder if that is true?

It should be fine, anything is better than nothing!

We have gone way beyond STABIL. We have had excellent sucess with K-100.
Stabil, STP, SEAFOAM...we have tried them all. K-100 has outperfomed
all of them. We ran test samples on each. Last week I purchased a 1999 MERC 75 HP OB that had not been run in 8 months. Old Fuel, gummed carbs the works. 5 fresh gallons of fuel 2 bottles of K-100 and the motor idles like a purring kitten. We have used it on carbed and TBI motors also. I was NEVER a believer in additives. They, all 3, never seemed to work. We have limited sucess with SEAFOAM. K-100
has worked really well for us.

I agree with Jim on this one. My mechanic swears by it. Uses it in his shop (Volvo, Mercedes, BMW) along with their other products.

I never thought about using it in the boat though. Will now. Thanks Jim.

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered a 6 pack. Just what I need, something to make putting gasoline in my tank even more expensive! This seems like something I should have been doing over the first 2 years of my engine's life. Live and learn.

Jim,

Which type did you test - the normal or ethanol enhanced version(s)?

Which K100 are you using and recommending - K100G or K100MG?

Jim K-

Do you reccomend useing it all the time. I have been babing my new hydrodyne and try to use everything to make it run forever. But the mastercraft could deffinately use something like that. Does anyone out their have problems with the ethanol in gas? I think we have a mastercraft that is badly rejecting it.
