Any reason I cant use Simple Green or Purple Power to clean the teak prior to conditioning and oil? We used it to kill mildew on all kinds of stuff and clean decks and such with it a lot too.

Thanks

I don't see why not. I have not tried, but let us know if it works.

I've always used star brite stuff, cleaner, brightener, and oil. Works good for me. After you use them once, never really have to again if you keep up on your oiling.

Remember, the black in the grain may not be just mildew in the grain of the wood, but waterborne lake debris, choke smoke, maybe not from your boat, but others boats, 2 cycle residual oil, decomposing smoker riders and fish poop. Try the cleaners and let us know hope it works!

I have alway taken my boat to the car wash and power washed all the black off it before giving teak treatments. It always works for me
