I have used a battery switch in my PS190 for a number of years with no problems. Diesel has done a great job of explaining a dual battery installation with an Isolator. Blue Sea Systems just came out with a nice combination package for $115. It has both an automatic charging relay (ACR) and an on/off switch that combine both banks. The ACR basically sits in parallel of the two positive terminals and allows charging when the engine is running. When off it isolates like the Borge Warner relay. The nice addition is the combination switch which allows you to turn both banks off for storage or combine if something were to drain the cranking battery. It also isolates your houseload/electronics from the cranking bank when starting or if in combine mode.

Just thought I would share as this conversation always comes up. I picked one up last week and it is well made and capable of handling larger AMP loads(120 Amp Max).

I have used this dual battery switch for several years, no issues here. Think I paid $ 38.00 for it.

Dual Battery - Automatic Charging Relay system looks pretty cool. If I had to do over again, I would use it. The dual battery Blue Sea Switch I have already installed has worked great. I just alternate between batteries each day, and have a backup battery when the stereo runs the primary one down.
