They are Radar ski boots.
Rod, I've been thinking about getting myself a pair. Please let us know how they work for you.

I am going to be very interested in how smooth the release is on these. The theory behind it sounds pretty good. Let me know after you take your firt OTF in them.
Didn't you at least try a set of the Fluid Motions? I would like to hear what you think of the differences since obviously the RS1 is a bit of a hybrid.

I'm still on my Jager's as well, Brian. But my curiosity is high on the RS-1's too.
Not sure why this was listed on their website as such, but the statement worries me.
Maybe it was for liability? Or maybe they are being directed by Radar to promote them in the manner? See the first sentence.

yes, i tried the fm's for about a month. i could not get used to them and for some reason they really hurt. And unlike rubber, i could not pull my feet out between passes to relive some pain..

I've seen that. Supposedly they do release by the liners coming out of the shells but I wouldn't want to be on of the first to 'try' the releasability factor.
By the way I have no plans of getting out of my FMs as I am very hapy with them. I am just curious to hear peoples reports on the new RS1 design since it is so different from anything else that is out there now.

I assume you molded them to your feet? Between passes I often sit in the water and unlatch a few of the straps. mostly the one across the top of my front foot as that is the one I run the tightest, but I have no problem in them for 20 minutes or so.
I think because I have a very narrow foot the hardshells really feel good. WIth anything else the boot is so wide it has to be really tight around my ankle to keep me in place, and still my feet shift about.
there are some interesting boots out on the market, I've also noticed that alot more are coming "goode" mount capable ie. you can attach them with interloc and still use them like rubber boots.

I saw that too: "Radar RS-1 Boots are a non-release Binding; do not expect to come out of the binding when you crash."
Not very encouraging. Be careful Rod

Don't write them off yet ,just wait awhile & let others be Guinea Pigs. I have a feeling the statement on Adrenaline was to cover them from liability should some Guinea pig not release. Most of the time it pays to wait a little to get the lay of the land so to speak.:)

Rod,
I've skied two sets with mine. I love them so far. I've changed from animals to vises and now RS-1. I bought 1 size larger than my shoe size and they fit great. I seemed to have good edge control and they are much more comfortable than my old bindings. I also liked that they are much warmer than the open toe bindings (the water was 36 when I skied the first time).

Maybe they mean the boots won't release from the binding/plate like snow ski boots, but your feet will release from the boots???
Either way, I'm sure it's just a CYA statement by Radar. I'm not too worried about it. My feet won't release from my Animals!

I agree. I'm happy with my FM's as well, and have seen them work very for my ski buddies. Both in terms of coming off when they need too, and staying on when they don't.
By the way, how tight do you run your buckles on both the front and rear boot?

Put some pics up when you get them!! I'm skiing with approach bindings and can't quite see why you would need tighter bindings.... I better get out and start skiing harder!! :)

I got the RS-1's on Saturday. Went to the lake and mounted them to the D3. I have been using the Approach bindings for the last couple years and tighten them to the point I won't come out in a fall.
I really like the concept of this system and after using them, feel VERY comfortable that in a OTF fall, the liner will come out of the boots.
I wasn't able to tighten the boots up as much as I have done on my approach bindings and there is definitely room to lift the heel of your foot, which I believe, is how the system is designed.
My 1st set, the boots felt a little loose all around, even so, the edge control is amazing. My 2nd set, I tightened the front of the boot section tighter and the overall fit felt more snug.
My overall impression of this binding system is very good, I need to do a little tweaking this next weekend. I will put super feet inserts in the liner and do the heat molding process. Once this is done, I suspect that the RS-1's will feel amazing.
