Anyone have any experience with infinite baffle (free air) subs?

I am not happy with my Clarion free air sub. I thought about replacing it with a sub enclosure, but would rather not loose the storage space.

I see Wetsounds has a free air sub:

and JL has a free air sub:
http://marine.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?prod_id=370

Does anyone have any experience with either of these subs? Is one better than the other? I am sure these will both be better than the Clarion, but can I expect good performance from a free air sub?

BTW, I am planning to install in the drivers kick panel (stock location)

JL is a good choice but you'll need more power to drive a free air sub than an enclosed one. Still, that's what I have and its driven using two channels from a JL 6450. I just got it set up but first impressions are very good.

Mike from MCOC really likes JL and he knows his stuff.

Use the JL M10IB5 and power it with an M1400D sub amp.
