I am looking to buy a Mastercraft but need some help. There are a bunch of stipulations that will go in to buying a boat. 1) Need one that holds at least 14. 2) What something that throws a descent wake. 3) Needs to be under 70K. I went to the dealer to find out some options and here is where I sit. He has an 06 Maristar 230 that is a hold over so it is considered new as far as warranty and all that. The dealer said he would "X" it out, which includes ballast, tower, and tower speakers. I need some input on this. Is this a good idea or a bad one.

Got to put all the hotties somewhere!!!!

I would say if you like the boat, and the price is right go for it.

I would call Eric at Chicago MC first.
If that dealer has a 06 there is a reason why it did not sell for 2 yrs. I would say that it better be a great deal!

The X-30 and 230 throw a great wake and have a nice dry ride even on big bodies of water. I think overall you'd be really happy with it.

We have a bunch of customers with X-30's out on Lake Minnetonka which is our local "big" lake. It's pretty popular because it will fit a lot of people yet when you duck into a bay its small enough to be manuverable and is great for surfing and boarding.

ok wow i have a floating party on the weekends and i would kill myself if i had 14 on my boat... i usually try to keep it to 8 max... my most obvious suggestion would be get a dock and a normal boat but that doesn't sound like a bad set-up the dealer has for you... i'll tell you in advance that when i've had over 8 in my x2 i don't even use the ballast... that many people is plenty to get a decent wake in a pontoon... if graphics and all that aren't a big deal to you i would roll with it... sounds like from a necessity standpoint you could rock the x80 (which is just a ridiculous vessel) w/ no problem... its pretty pricy though... just about any MC you go w/ will be a great boat you will probably want to stay away from the prostar and smaller x-series boats (x2,x9,etc) though

Well my X-star holds 12 but you can always throw a 2 tubes out back and you can get another 2 people and make it 16!:D

Or get a pontoon and swap bodies back and forth like we do!

Here is a shot of an 06 X-30 with a similar crew in it from CSM last year. We had a good time but that would be a bit much for all the time IMHO.

I'd do some looking for an '07 X30 vs converting a 230. The parts for converting the 230 to an X are gonna be $$. There are still a fair amount of 30's around that I would think you could get in your price range seeing that the 35 is out now which will bring an end to the 30.

Find a dock and take them out in shifts. I agree with a previous post not much fun after about 30 minutes of sitting next to your sweaty sibling.
The capacity Placard is not a challenge!

Have it transferred to your local MasterCraft dealer. Brand New 2007 X-30 and nicely equipped! Eagle Lake Rebel said it best as adding the X options could be $$. Let me know if you have any questions.

I think Midwest Mastercraft had a leftover '06 X-30 when I was looking at their used boats online the other day. Might be something for you to consider.
