I herd about that video!!!! That's nuts. A guy at work said when the people got off the plane, they had shrinks waiting to talk to the people who were messed up in the head from it.

That first one is close to home with me. While it wasn't quite that severe, my best friend and I did land (ok he was flying, I was just prayin!) a 172xp in conditions we probably shouldn't have and it looked about like that. Funny thing was that was one of the first dates with my wife, she still married my crazy arse!! :D

actually - some of that is normal. As a pilot, it is obvious he was holding it in the wind with rudder - that stablizes the plane as opposed to allowing the wind to push, this is what held it on its line. At the last second, he let off and allowed the plane to straighten (perhaps with alternate rudder) - on a smaller scale, many planes have to land this way - the smaller the plane, the more cross eyed the approach can be. You operate the rudder with your feet for that reason - takes muscle.

I saw that video a couple of days ago. The thing that really sucked for the passengers is they had to go around and do that again. After the pilot hit the wing tip on the runway. Fun times

I thought of this video when I saw that Airbus.....

check it out at 2:08 that's some seriously good piloting going on, even after he sticks the landing watch the rudder deflection all the way down the runway

i have seen something similar a few years back on an approach at the airport at colorado springs, colorado. as i recall, the problem with this airport is the crosswinds off he mountains since the airport is in a valley. anyway, do not believe i would ever fly into there after seeing the video.

I've flown into CO Springs many times, and I've had a few pucker moments of my own...It's a B**** of an airport to land.

Great shot as the wingtip hit. Highest steady crosswind that day in Hamburg was 28 knots, with crosswind component gust to 46knots. He landed at about the time of these peak winds.

Oh c'mon. You have one possible flight coming up.

IMHO I would be happy if that guy turned out to be the pilot of my next flight.. That had to take some knowhow, luck, or a combination of both:rolleyes:

I'd have had to change my BVD's after that too:o
