Congrats on the stereo equipment! Have fun with the install......

Lennyp04
03-03-2008, 11:28 PM
yeah the install should be fun considering I know nothing about audio. My dad does though. But luckily we have a very gracious X30 owner who is 5 mins away so maybe we can jump in and see how everything is wired!

Josh, are the tower speakers your talking about the stock MC ones? That's what I want...the 7.7" JL's in the sweet MC cans!

OK stupid question here...

Whats the tower tubing diameter for an 07 X1?

Good Luck with the stereo Lenny, a boat without tunes is kinda boring. It's not too hard to install. Just follow the wiring diagrams supplied and you shouldn't have any trouble. If you run into problems, there's a ton of knowledgable guys here ready to help you.

Have you had geometry yet? Go measure the circumference and then you can figure it out.

Congrats man... don't know how you made it this long w/o muzak... It will take your riding to a whole new level when you get the tower cans mounted though... and it's pretty fun to leave the bar during the summer (we've got a bar here w/ boat docks) and blast the crappy house band off the deck and into the bathroom when you're leaving

Not to thread jack but on my lake the home owners have complained to the lake association numerous times about loud music from wake board boats. I would have to say that I tend to have to agree with them. Some of those high end stereo's I can hear from across the lake when my family is out on our beach or deck. It gets annoying. I wish at the very least the younger crowd that seems to have the tunes cranking would at least play some decent music.

Good luck with your install.

Prostar the way I see it is I'm representing MasterCraft when I'm on the boat so the explentives are kept to a minimum.

Dave, I can't go outside and meausre. The boats an hour and a half away from where I am right now. I'm going up this weekend but it is still shrinkwrapped. If anyone knows the tower diameter, hook a brother up with some info! I want to know because I want to get a tower mirror arm and need to get the right one

i can deffinately understand that... you have to be respectful w/ what you play for sure... you can't blare Mr. Bigg or some crap like that that somebody on the boat wants when you know there's families w/ little kids and/or elderly around especially... you can't honestly try to live up to the stereotype that has been painted about "punks w/ wakeboats"

I guess with the audio add a second battery would be a good idea! How hard is that to do?

Lenny,

Congrats. I've also been looking at audio stuff on ebay - from their ebay store. Lots of really good ebay deals on this equipment.

You are going to need an M101RXC remote wire to connect the CMD4 to the CMRC remote. There are a couple on ebay cheap. This is about the best you'll find on a NIP one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Clarion-24-Remote-Extension-Cable-M101RXC-RET-NIP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ26444QQihZ011QQitem Z320225079629QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I installed a CMRC1 in my 197 last summer. Nice unit, the LCD display is a nice addition over the CMRC2 that the factory installs. Takes up a bit more space though. It is also really bright, so consider wiring it to something other than nav light circuit , otherwise it is a bit blinding at night, and you will be stuck with it when nav lights are on. Other consideration is it benefits from backlight during the day, so wiring to something not related to your nav lights can help here too.

If you are looking to duplicate the stock speaker setup, MC is utilizing the CMCS7.1 for 2008 for base head/speaker only installs. They are a 7" speaker with 160 watts max power rating. I think you got the coaxial 1625's, with integrated tweeters. They are a good economy speaker, but not sure if they are up to task for that Pyle PLMRA620 amp thats gonna be feeding them. They are only 6.5" and 100 watts max rating.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Clarion-CMCS7-1-Boat-Marine-7-Component-Speakers_W0QQitemZ190202952092QQihZ009QQcategoryZ1 8800QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They only use these in setups w/o the amp/sub apparently in 2008. As soon as an amp/sub is ordered, they go to the JL Audio M770 speakers - which are about $275 a pair on ebay right now! The factory install in 2007 would have been M770's regardless of the selected stereo package. This is why the base stereo option MSRP dropped a lot in 2008 - cuz of the move back to Clarions.

Doesn't sound like the system you are installing will need 2 batts unless you are gonna run for a really long time on batt only.

Let us know how that system works, its a great price.

Jerry

Here's a good deal Lenny if you want some JL's in the Mastercraft cans with lights for the tower....

Ends soon!

Jerry, thanks for the info. The part you said that I will need is just to wire the remote to the head unit right?

Chances are we wouldn't be running the stereo for extended periods of time without the boat running. I'm just not sure how much the stereo and amp and whatnot draw on the battery. Now I do know that the alternator keeps help the battery strong by recharging it to a certain point. So normally we would probably only have the stereo on when the boat is on. So I guess your right its not that important, just more of a price of mind thing so we wouldn't get stuck on the water

Lennyp04
03-06-2008, 07:53 AM
Jerry, I just looked at the wire that you told me about. I'm almost 100% positive that the wire is included. I just asked my dad and he said he thinks so but doesn't know for sure. I guess we will find out when it comes today!

JerryS
03-06-2008, 10:31 AM
Just wanted to make sure you look for it, cuz it's not included with the standard CMRC1 or the CMD4A unless HookedOnTronics threw it into the package.

I only know cuz I was bitten by that too. The online pics of the CMRC1 show a wire - but it is only about 6" long.

I'm not the one that got a good deal. My dad comparison shops all the time, very seldom does he impulse buy. At overtons that same head unit is listed at $349.99! And its the same head unit MC uses in their boats!

The only times before this that I've heard of Pyle was in the overtons catalogs. I'm sure its no JL however I believe it will pump up the music nicely! I will fill you in as the summer goes along.

It should be good, it's not a big name brand but you bought what you could afford! That's what counts! Hope it works out well for you.

Lennyp04
03-08-2008, 02:57 PM
yeah we could have afforded more but the nose of the x1 has met the water a few times and we didnt want to put all our eggs in one basket so to speak so that if this would happen again it doesn't cost a fortune to replace

03-08-2008, 03:52 PM
Lenny, if it makes you feel any better our stock JL 6 channel amp took a crapper while on mute? Replaced by MC under warranty. :) Too bad you don't have Skeeler's budget!!

Lennyp04
03-08-2008, 06:04 PM
Oh that's where your wrong. We have the budget we just wanted to not spend to much money so we could buy tower speaker before the start of the season.

Now in Lenny world where the motto is Bigger is better we would have bought the top of the line JL amp with ok the blings to go with but were being conservative on this...for now!
